How Many Licks Does it Take to Get to the Center of My Music Collection?
I love having a music subscription. In my case, Apple Music. I find iTunes really helpful in organizing my library, and making playlists. Then, sometimes, I just set the internet on shuffle and see what comes up…
A mix of late Gen X/early Millennial musicians. I’ve liked them for a long time. They also did one of my favorites (Glenn’s too):
Yes, of course it’s from a movie.
This one’s great. I loved MTV Unplugged. I think I actually like this version of this song better than the original. I’ll post both, you decide.
A very baby-faced Dave Grohl on drums there, btw.
That acoustic set reminds me of another song where I prefer the “concert in the round” version to the studio. This is rare for me. Not a big fan of live music recordings most of the time.
Really love this song. Love the way Flea slaps the hell out of that bass.
I also think every single one of these dudes is as insane as I am.
This was up next. Again, the internet on shuffle.
There was something really haunting about this song. Reminds me a bit of Michael Bolton. Not the guy from Office Space.
I sent this one to my wife when I heard it. And that’s all I’m going to say about my wife Bonnie, who is named after her paternal aunt. My Bonnie’s father was also named Clyde.
He was a chef and watches over our kitchen.
This song is really cool. This is a “Supergroup” formed from the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots, bunch of dudes from Guns n’ Roses, and one dude from Wasted Youth. From Wikipedia:
Velvet Revolver was an American hard rock and alternative metal supergroup consisting of Guns N' Roses members Slash (lead guitar), Duff McKagan (bass, backing vocals) and Matt Sorum (drums, backing vocals), alongside Dave Kushner (rhythm guitar) formerly of punk band Wasted Youth, and Scott Weiland (lead vocalist) formerly of Stone Temple Pilots.
This brings to mind another Supergroup:
Audioslave was an American rock supergroup formed in Glendale, California, in 2001. The four-piece band consisted of Soundgarden's lead singer and rhythm guitarist Chris Cornell with Rage Against the Machine members Tom Morello (lead guitar), Tim Commerford (bass/backing vocals), and Brad Wilk (drums).
“Is that all ya got? A Cheap Trick and a cheesy one-liner?”
“Sweetheart, that could be the name of my autobiography.”
