I’ve always been a big fan of Pink Floyd. Well, since I was about fifteen, anyway. This album was fantastic, and (in my opinion) a magnum opus. Some tracks stand alone, but I truly believe that like “Dark Side of the Moon”, it should be consumed whole.
Let’s start off with one of the most famous tracks (if not the most famous):
There used to be a virtual reality video game place in San Diego’s Fashion Valley, and they had this really cool racing game. You’d pilot a pod across the surface of Mars against other players, it was fun for 19 year old Mike. Anyway, I would crank this song for “driving/flying music”:
This is a haunting song, and the footage in this video is from the movie that they made to accompany this album. It’s trippy and disturbing, but worth watching at least once.
So, what’s your favorite from this super-sized album?
Good Morning from the road.
Kilgore
A Note from Mike: This is the part where I post links to the rest of the series, but it’s getting a bit long. So, I’ll be maintaining THIS POST so you can go through the archives.
If it's daytime, "Run Like Hell." At night, "Comfortably Numb." Some songs just aren't meant to be played when the sun is up.
Roger Waters' recent antics have made "The Wall" and other classic Pink Floyd albums a much harder listen, though.
