How Many Licks Does it Take to Get to the Center of My Music Collection?
The world may never know. Welcome to Mike's Music Morning
Let’s start the morning with a really great song from Daft Punk. This is the love theme from an anime movie they did called Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem:
Next up is a song from The Lumineers - Holdin’ Out, the song tie-in with a really cute animated movie called Storks:
This is a haunting rendition of Prince’s “When Doves Cry” from Bas Luhrmann’s Romeo+Juliet:
That entire movie is a masterpiece, in my opinion, by the way.
Back when I was doing my original podcast, the morning after I found out my wife was pregnant, I played this song (ostensibly from Despicable Me):
And this one from DM2:
Annoyed the crap out of my cohost, but whatever.
Oh, it should be mentioned that Pharrell Williams was one of the drummers on the Man of Steel score. More on that in a future post.
This one came up again after all these years specifically because of the movie (are we sensing a pattern yet?) Ready Player One.
This one got into the rotation due to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2:
I’ll put the link at the bottom, but in yesterday’s inaugural Mike’s Music Morning post, I talked a bit about one of our favorite sci-fi shows, EUrEKA. This was also featured on the show, albeit in an alternate reality. Trust me, if you’re a geek, you need to watch this show.
And finally, for today, a couple songs that got added after hearing them on Stargate: Universe:
Have a great Saturday, folks.
And, good morning from Western Wishes.
